CSR NEWS: Emfasis Non-Profit X Ydrogios Insurance: 5 Years of Generous Support

Ydrogios Insurance supports the project of Emfasis Non-Profit in the fire-affected areas of Northeast Attica

Ydrogios Insurance in the context of its commitment to corporate social responsibility and in cooperation with the Emfasis Non-Profit, actively supported those affected by the devastating fires that hit Northeast Attica in August 2024. Ydrogios Insurance and Emfasis Non-Profit, through 5 years of cooperation and the programme “We do not pass by— we support the vulnerable population in cases of emergency”, have once again demonstrated the vital importance of their joint effort, offering immediate and meaningful assistance to those affected by the fires.

Emfasis Non-Profit with its valuable support Ydrogios Insurance, it was found from the first moment in the affected areas, focusing its efforts on the area of Varnava. In particular, the Emfasis Non-Profit team mapped the needs of vulnerable households (single-parent families, elderly people with chronic health problems, large families), ensuring targeted assistance to residents. At the same time, it created and manages exclusively a Help Center in Varnava, in cooperation with the local Cultural Association. To date, and with Ydrogios Insurance by its side, it has distributed over 131 Relief Packs, has ensured food coverage to over 100 residents, while provided electrical appliances, cleaning supplies, bedding plus furniture.

“We Don't Pass by— We Support”: 5 Years of Support

The programme “We do not pass by— we support the vulnerable population in cases of emergency", supported by Ydrogios Insurance since December 2019, provides critical assistance with Mobile Support Units, equipped with Rescue-Ready Packs, in areas affected by extreme weather events and other emergencies. The programme focuses on prevention, ensuring the immediate provision of survival, humanitarian assistance and counselling support to individuals and families living below the poverty line or in conditions of housing insecurity.

The partnership of Hydrogeio Insurance and Emfasis Non-Profit is now 5 years old, having managed, during this time, to respond to emergencies such as:

  • The COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown of 2020
  • The snowstorm “Medea” in Attica in February 2021
  • The devastating fires in Northern Evia in 2021
  • The storms “Daniel” and “Elias” in Thessaly in 2023
  • The fires in Northeast Attica in 2024

To date, the programme has been implemented in 35 Municipalities and Municipal Units throughout Greece, with the specialized teams of Emfasis Non-Profit having dedicated a total of 3,720 hours on the road. They have carried out 405 shifts of Mobile Support Units and1 72 on-the-spot interventions. Through these actions, more than 3.500 beneficiaries in Attica have been supported plus smore than 2,300 in Thessaly, with the distribution 2,764 Rescue Ready Packs. The programme is supported by 480 trained volunteers who actively contribute to the implementation of actions.

Hydrogeio Insurance's commitment to the program is not limited to financial contributions. The company provides Emfasis Non-Profit with key resources, such as a specially configured Procurement Management Center and insurance coverage on mobile units, ensuring that the organization has the tools and infrastructure it needs to respond effectively to emergencies.
