liberal.gr: A new lease of life for Glinos, Trikala: The new Community Centre has been inaugurated with the support of the Reale Foundation and Hydrogeia Insurance

The Reale Foundation and Ydrogios Insurance actively supported the creation of a modern, functional and safe meeting place for the residents of Glinos, Trikala. On 21 September 2026, the fully refurbished Community Centre in the village’s central square was officially opened; the centre had suffered severe damage from Storm Daniel and had remained closed ever since.

The restoration project was carried out by the non-profit organisation Emfasis, with funding from the Reale Foundation and Hydrogeios Insurance. The initiative is of particular importance to the local community, as it restores a space that serves as a landmark for local residents. The comprehensive refurbishment involved extensive repairs to damage and an upgrade to the building’s infrastructure, providing residents of all ages with a fully functional venue for socialising, cultural activities and community life for years to come.

The opening ceremony took place in a warm atmosphere, attended by representatives of the local authority, volunteers and villagers. The venue was officially opened by the Mayor of Trikala, Mr Nikos Sakkas; the Director General of the Reale Foundation, Ms Virginia Antonini; the Chief Communications Officer of Ydrogeios Insurance, Ms Mary Vogiatzis; the co-founder of Emfasis Non Profit, Mr Apostolos Vafeas, and the Chairman of the Municipal Community of Glinos, Mr Kostas Petrou.

The children – our future – now have yet another opportunity.” For his part, the Chairman of the Municipal Community of Glinos, Mr Kostas Petrou, pointed out that the modern facilities will provide a strong incentive for residents to come together and remain in their village, thereby improving their quality of life.

We hope it will become a meeting place for vibrant people who look to the future and leave the devastation behind them.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the space was handed over to the residents and filled with children’s voices, as the community’s children made creative use of it through painting and crafts, sending out the most optimistic message for the future.
