Program: “FONIfóros”

STRENGTHENING THE POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF CITIZENS IN CRISIS IN WESTERN GREECE AND THESSALY

“FONIfóros” is a program that helps citizens who have gone through difficult circumstances regain an active role in society. Our core vision is to provide women with the knowledge and confidence they need to participate actively in decisions affecting their communities. Through “FONIfóros,” participants learn how to claim their rights and become agents of change.

The “FONIfóros” project is implemented within the framework of the PLATO program, by Co2gether and Emfasis Non-Profit. PLATO is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the Bodossaki Foundation, and the NGO Support Centre, with a total grant amount of €3.1 million.

Action Pillars

We connect citizens with local administration through:

  • Empowerment in Practice: We strengthen local communities and promote our rights, with a special emphasis on women’s participation.
  • Empowerment Workshops: We learn how to advocate for solutions to everyday problems.
  • Open Assemblies: We discuss community needs directly with municipal representatives.
  • Collaboration with Equality Committees: We actively support women by making use of existing municipal structures.
  • Women’s Network “The Voice”: We create a permanent group that submits proposals and ideas to municipalities and regional authorities.
  • Community-Based Learning: We encourage citizen participation through the exchange of experiences and mutual support.
