In June, EMFASIS completed 3 years of its establishment and solidarity towards our fellow citizens, who live in a “street situation” or under the poverty line. Till today, it is estimated that more than 140 volunteers have participated in our activities, 76,100 volunteer hours have been completed, all whilst these numbers are still increasing daily. At the same time, the total number of beneficiaries, who have been relieved thanks to the Emfasis’ efforts and programmes, is around 3.500.
During the third anniversary of EMFASIS held on 23 June, we implemented an Extended Support Activation for all those affected by the socio-economic crisis. Our supporters’ response was touching and has surpassed all expectations, while it demonstrated the high degree of awareness as well the dramatic impact of humanitarian and refugee crisis in Greece.
The meeting point was in the Centre of Athens. More than 40 participants, volunteers and citizens, were divided into groups and collaborated with our 2 Mobile Support Units, in order to support Emfasis’ Street Workers and reach as many beneficiaries as possible.
Particularly heart-moving was the presence and assistance offered by several supporters, during the long period of preparation for this Action.
Starting from Kotzia Square and moving towards vulnerable neighborhoods in Athens and the port of Piraeus, participants offered food items, salad, desserts, water and iced beverages, basic survival items and clothing. At the end of this extensive activity, more than 450 food portions were offered to the homeless, refugees and needy families.
Emfasis’ activations are daily and constantly expanding, as there are people who need our help.
